Hair cut!

The before. I'm ready to go Mom!

Shaggy was finally in need of a trim, so on one of our many days home this month we went and got our hair cut.

10 months and counting. . .

Over the weekend we went up to Utica to Starved Rock. Kane went on his first hike. He enjoyed it, and so did we. Although there weren't near as many eagles as there usually are, we did get to see a few. After our hike Kane was exhausted (because he did so much of the hiking).
So we've had an interesting few weeks. The 2nd week back from break Kane got the stomach flu on Tuesday night about 1am. I stayed home a half day Wednesday and then Matt come home the rest of the day. We had a snowstorm Wednesday night and didn't have school the rest of the week. Just my luck. Then that weekend Matt wasn't feeling well and then I got the stomach flu Sunday night. I managed to make it to school on Monday going on about 3, maybe 4 hours of sleep. Of course Kane was really restless Sunday night. Somehow we all survived that week. Now Kane has a stuffy nose and a cough. We just can't win.

Weight: 18lbs 5 oz (25%)
Height: 29 1/2 (90%)
Head: 17 or something (75%)

Favorite things to do: eat! He loves to eat. He will eat almost anything (not mandarin oranges) He also likes to make fart noises on the bathtub, dishwasher door, stove door and anything with a flat surface.
New things: We've started clapping within the last week and kind of wave.
Overall Kane has been really in a good mood lately. I guess he was kind of fussy at Beth's yesterday (which made me kind of happy because it seems like he's always happy for Beth ;) that's about it for us.

Taylor finally got a hold of me (not for long)

Look at my shiner. I hit my head on the table the other night. It was one of those things where Matt and I were like "come on breath." I saw him hit his head and it didn't look near as painful as he made it out to be. He actually hit his cheekbone, which does really hurt.

Look at how pretty the snow is, that is when it's not blowing.

Even though Kane now has his own drum, he would much rather play Daddy's.

Breaking wind!

Right after we got out of the bathtub, this is what Kane started doing. I only tried to encourage him as Matt ran to get the camera.

91/2 month update.

Weight: 17lbs 8 oz.
Height: who knows? the only reason we know his weight is because he ended up having another double ear infection. We were supposed to go in the Wednesday between Christmas and New Years for his 9 month appt., but the doctor had to cancel because of a death in the family. Instead we get to pay $75 to go in the same day because of an ear ache. Kane is eating a lot, moving a lot (not walking yet) and still only has 2 teeth. With all his new toys from Christmas, he would much rather play with the tv or my laptop or anything we don't want him to play with. He continues to get up once a night to eat: typically around 4am. Ehh, it could be worse.

Okay so you would think that Christmas break would be a time of relaxation and lots of free time. Hardly! I started out my first day of break heading up to Chicago with my dad. We met Holly up there for lunch (which was awesome by the way). Besides the occasional sleeting spell, all was well in the city. We enjoyed a relaxing Christmas eve at home for once with Dad and Norma stopping by for hor d'oeuvres and drinks. We opened gifts as a family Christmas morning. We headed to Grandma and Grandpa Aupperle's to meet up with Milissa, Ryan, and Ashlyn. Kane and Ashlyn played nicely for the most part. He got his own drum and a giant Cat truck, which Ashlyn decided to join him on. He was fine with it as long as she was facing backwards. Then we headed to the Weber's for more holiday festivities. Kane wouldn't have anything to do with anyone other than myself, Matt, or Grandpa Bob. At least this time he didn't try to bite Asher. We concluded the evening with the Tavener Christmas at Grandma and Grandpa's new condo. Of course, we forgot the diaper bag in Fairbury and Kane filled his pants about 40 minutes after we got there.

Break was great. I would have to say that going back to work was a difficult thing. I forgot how much fun it is to be at home with the boys. Heck, Matt, Kane and I didn't leave the house from New Years eve until church on Sunday.
