Weight: 18lbs. 12 oz
Height: 29 1/2" that was a while ago, and he keeps being able to reach more and more on the bathroom counter top
Likes: throwing footballs, basketballs, baseballs, he has really enjoyed playing with Matt's volleyball. He also enjoys throwing pillows around and then he will climb on top of a big pile of them. Closing the dryer door (although he pinched his fingers last night)
New skills: we've learned to successfully go up and down the stairs. It's just funny how he puts a death grip on the carpet when he goes up. We've also introduced milk in his sippy cup. Instead of an afternoon bottle, he now gets milk, which he does really well with. I even gave him about 1/3 full cup with dinner last night and he finished it all!
Aren't babies supposed to sleep better the older they get? Kane has not. He has been torturing Matt and I all week. We left him at Grandma and Grandpa Aupperle's over the weekend to go up to Chicago and join Casey and the gang for "Train Crawl." We had a really good time and Kane slept alright. He was in a great mood when we picked him up. When we got home, he changed. He was whining and clingy all night on Sunday. Sunday night was horrible. He woke up at least 5 times. We even brought him in bed thinking that maybe he would sleep a little better. Ehh. Wednesday night he got up around 2:30, and I tried to put him back to sleep, well after letting him "cry it out" for 40 minutes I had had enough. I went and rocked him to sleep and finally at 3:30 he was sleeping. Last night was even worse.
He woke up at 2:20 and Beth (our sitter) had told us how she would tell him to lay down at nap time when he stood up. I tried that and he would lay back down and be quiet. I would wait and a few minutes later he would get back up, we did this about 4 different times and I went back to bed. Well no sooner had I gotten to bed then he started to whine again. This time Matt went in there. After about 10 minutes Kane was quiet. Matt came back to bed. And guess who woke up again!?!?! So I thought I'd let him cry it out again. Well at 4am I went in there and he was still whining and had a dirty diaper. I quickly changed him and rocked him for about 5 minutes and he was out. I think he's trying to kill us or be an only child.

yep, thats a major reason nicholas is an only child, the lack of sleep literally almost killed us.
the one thing i learned rachel is that it takes 3 nights of hell to change sleep patterns.
you do have to let him cry it out.
he needs to learn how to put himself back to asleep just like everyone else does.
i will say this, it got better when we put rice flakes in his bottle of milk at night, contrary to what the doctor said, it worked.
